Job Description:


The Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Branch (NEOPB) is currently seeking to fill a Health Program Specialist I (HPS I) position in the Local Agency Support- South unit of the Local Agency Support Section. This position would be responsible for providing technical assistance and training services (in coordination with the Training Development Section), oversight, consultation and monitoring local and statewide projects. The position requires a highly skilled, technical program specialist to handle complex tasks related to the implementation of federal and state policies, procedures, and processes impacting local agencies funded by NEOPB.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: 

NEOPB is currently looking for individuals who have qualifications in the following areas: 

• Health education approaches 
• Technical assistance and training experience 
• Written and verbal communication experience 
• Public health and/or nutrition related degree 

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS: 

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is a narrative discussion of your education, training, experience, and skills as it relates to the desirable qualifications listed above. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing and should be typed and no more than two pages in length. 

Resumes do not take the place of the Statement of Qualifications. Applicants who fail to submit the Statement of Qualifications will be eliminated from the selection process.

Appointment may be subject to SROA/Surplus Restrictions. Candidates applying for this position who wish to be considered on a transfer basis must meet the minimum qualifications for the classification per CCR Rule 250. You may be required to provide copies of your college transcripts or copy of your college diploma if applicable.
