Getting Professional in Practice:
Myths, Science, and Evidence

Virtual Workshop

May 21, 2020 • 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Despite ongoing efforts, we still see numerous myths pervading our industry. Whether based on marketing hype, lack of awareness, vested interests, or more, they’re not just embarrassing, they’re harmful. In this session, we’ll visit some candidate myths and look at how to deal with them. We’ll talk about how to deal with fervent adherents and how to evaluate new claims. It’s not only important to us, but to our learners as well. Come get the best practices to be a true professional.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will:

  • Distinguish between, and recognize myths, superstitions, and misconceptions
  • Get a basic overview of cognition to undermine fallacious claims
  • Learn a process to deal with myth-guided individuals
  • Learn steps to verify new claims
