Please join us to make a difference in science education.Position SummaryThe Curriculum and Training Developer (CTD) designs, develops and writes standards-based curriculum and investigations for middle school and high school science classes. The CTD creates and delivers training and professional development to educators who use PASCOand#39;s curriculum, and software and hardware in their classes to teach science.Responsibilities-Curriculum Design and DevelopmentApply principles of learning and teaching, various pedagogical and instructional design approaches and processes to authoring engineering or science curriculum and investigations for multiple formats (print and online).Conduct needs analysis, prepare clear learning objectives for the science curriculum, and transform complex science concepts into engaging, and effective interactive instructional activities.Test and debug science/engineering activities for quality assurance. Ensure that all information is accurate, consistent, easy to understand, and well organized.Contribute to the development of efficient processes for content development.Maintain expertise in current high school science education markets, including pedagogical approaches, competition, and opportunities.Responsibilities-Training and Professional DevelopmentDesign and deliver workshops in a classroom setting and webinar format.Participate in the planning, and coordination of ongoing professional development based on educational research.Present complex and newly developed investigations. Conduct lab demonstrations.Encourage and support the development and implementation of innovative, effective instructional programs based on an inquiry approach to learning science.Design, plan and deliver training sessions ranging from 1 hour to several days.Skills and AbilitiesA collaborator and team player with excellent interpersonal skills.Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, communication, and instructional design skills.Able to prioritize and demonstrate thoroughness in all aspects of work performed.Complete assigned project tasks on time and in quality fashion, with the ability to recognize implications of projects on a similar deadline, and prioritize tasks effectively.Able to generate ideas about unfamiliar topics and to research those topics.Technically proficient and demonstrated ability to learn new tools quickly.Minimum QualificationsBachelor of Science degree in Biology. Knowledge of and experience in teaching any or all of the following: Environmental Science, Biotechnology.Use of probeware and data collection software in the classroom to teach science.Three to five years related experience in teaching science, curriculum development and professional development for high school grade levels or college level.Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office.Travel requirements: potentially once a month or less.Desirable QualificationsMasterand#39;s degree in one of the following: Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Education Technology.Knowledge of and/or experience in teaching Microbiology, Physiology a plus.Experience teaching Biology in Advanced Placement Program and/or in the International Baccalaureate program.Experience writing STEM curriculum a plus.Familiarity with HTML5 and able to use applications such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
