Job summary

The Learning, Evaluation, and Grants Operations (LEGO) Fellowship provides emerging, early-career professionals with a two-year learning experience in the field of international human rights philanthropy. This position reports to and is guided by the Head of Learning, Evaluation, and Grants Operations and is a member of the Operations Team. The Fellow is responsible for stewarding and accompanying applicants and grantees through the Global Fund for Women grantmaking process and maintaining and improving grantmaking systems, processes, and data quality. Working with the Learning, Evaluation, and Grants Operations team, the Fellow gains hands-on experience in the following areas: (1) grantmaking operations – working with the Program Team to implement the grantmaking strategies; (2) learning, monitoring, & evaluation – supporting the organization’s learning and evaluation efforts; (3) database and project management; and (4) developing professional networks. In addition, the Fellow will be paired with a mentor and have the opportunities to participate in professional development activities, including professional conferences and webinars.

Organizational relationships

Internal: This position reports to the Head of Learning, Evaluation, and Grants Operations and has daily working relationships with the Programs Team, and regular working interactions with Operations, Development, Technology, and Finance teams as well as other staff.

External: Contact with outside applicants, grant recipients, advisors, contractors, and the general public.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Required

• Oral and written fluency in French
• Knowledge of women’s rights 
• Knowledge of global economic, political, social and cultural trends
• Knowledge and skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis using Excel and/or other software programs
• Familiarity with the basic principles of database management
• Good working knowledge of global geography
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to multi-task
• Strong English oral and written communication skills 
• Sensitivity and appreciation for varying viewpoints and communication styles in a politically and culturally diverse environment
• Ability to exhibit flexibility in a fast-paced environment 
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop solid working relationships 
• Ability to manage both daily tasks and long-term projects
• Strong skills in a PC environment, and in using MS Office and database programs

Strongly Preferred 

• Oral and written fluency in one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Russian or Spanish 
• Knowledge of the following regions through academic studies, or working or living experience: Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and/or Middle East/North Africa
• Familiarity with the international non-profit sector
• A working knowledge of grants administration and an understanding of financial information 
• Experience with Salesforce

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a Social Science field or equivalent
• Minimum one year work experience (internships and/or student jobs are relevant)
• General exposure to the non-profit sector
• Experience in working in a diverse, team-oriented, and fast-paced environment
