Director, Business & Leadership Programs - Davis, CA

Responsibilities:

This position is charged with advancing and overseeing a portfolio of educational and training programs in a variety of business, operations, management and leadership domains that prepare adults for upskilling, reskilling, career transition and advancement. Under general oversight, the incumbent establishes a vision for portfolio growth in alignment with the divisional strategic plan; provides strategy and leadership for start-up programmatic initiatives; works collaboratively across the division, campus and professional community and encompassing a variety of subjects and disciplines within the business sector; and has accountability for the academic integrity and financial sustainability of all programs created. The incumbent is expected to be a leader in the field, bring expertise in workforce development strategies and approaches, and have relevant professional experience and networks. The incumbent must possess a strong command of higher education; capacity for high-level interaction with diverse campus and community experts; facility with market intelligence; capacity to conduct needs assessments and lead curriculum development targeting post-traditional learners; strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; experience in business and partnership development; and, the capacity to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.  

Minimum Qualifications: (must be attained at time of application)

• Master’s degree in management, business, marketing, finance, organizational leadership or related topic.
• 5 years of professional experience in a higher education or training organization/role.
• Prior experience managing and supervising people.
• Prior experience teaching, developing and/or managing educational programs.

Additional Qualifications:

• Knowledge of adult learning principles, and experience applying those principles to the design of engaging learning experiences.
• Demonstrated skills in outreach, new business development, partnerships. 
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and managing financial performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Track record of program leadership in an entrepreneurial educational context.
• Experience working in highly collaborative environments.
• Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to assess new educational opportunities.
• Capacity to chart a vision and strategy for a portfolio that addresses labor market demands and emerging trends in the field.
• Creativity and innovation in educational programming. 

Appointment/Compensation:

This is a full-time academic term appointment with an initial 1-year appointment, eligible for continued reappointment. Salary commensurate with level and experience. UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education is unable to sponsor a work visa (H-1B) to fill this position.  Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are legally authorized to work in the United States.
