The Trainer as Facilitator:
Beyond the Basics

(A Two-Day Workshop)
with
Katrina Kennedy

Last year Katrina Kennedy, known locally as the “trainer’s trainer,” launched ATD Sacramento’s Trainer as Facilitator of Learning. The class sold out in three weeks and received rave reviews.

Participants said:

  • "I enjoyed the organic nature of the class and in-depth discussion about focused conversations."
  • "I learned new tools, methods, and concepts to improve my facilitation skills, including the debriefing questions from the Focused Conversation."
  • "Most importantly, I gained confidence on how to apply the tools throughout the two-day instruction, with interactive exercises and hands-on practice."

Katrina is back to provide this popular program in 2017. This low-cost, high value program will fill early. Don’t put off submitting your registration.

What’s in it for you?

When you step into the learning environment, you are tasked with conveying information in an engaging way that will lead to improved job performance. As a talent developer, this means you have many responsibilities. You train, you manage the classroom, guide discussion, lead activities, and facilitate a host of other happenings in the classroom.

During a learning event, your role as facilitator is one of the most important. In this fast paced, hands-on program, you will:

  •  Practice facilitating exercise and activities
  • Receive immediate feedback and coaching on your facilitation from Katrina and fellow participants
  • Be supported in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

1.    Demonstrate methods to effectively facilitate learning.

2.    Identify 5 ways to engage learners quickly and easily.

3.    Use a 4-part debrief format to encourage discussion.

4.    Practice phrases to use while facilitating learning.

5.    Apply methods for minimizing challenging behaviors.

6.    Make changes based on class feedback.

Format and Intended Audience

From the moment you walk into class, you will have opportunities to facilitate in a supportive environment. You’ll learn through practical hands-on exercises and the feedback that supports them. Don’t expect to sit through a lecture or be overwhelmed with theory.

This class is designed for the trainer looking to improve engagement and interactivity in their training courses.

Katrina Kennedy, owner of Katrina Kennedy Training, has more than twenty years in the talent development field. She’s delivered over 12,000 hours of training to over 45,000 people. Katrina brings practical experience to the real issues trainers face.
